Israel
March 2012
This is a somewhat belated thank you for an unforgettable trip to Israel. Once again the organisation, accommodation and company were first-class and as for the birds, what can I say? To see over 50 lifers was just incredible, but it was not a list-ticking trip - there was ample opportunity to WATCH the birds. Who can forget that Hume's Owl, feathers ruffled in the wind as it perched on the rock, or the pair of Bonelli's Eagles gliding below us? Israel really is amazing for birds.

With best wishes to you both and hoping to come on another trip before too long.

Spanish Pyrenees
Wallcreepers & Cranes
February 2012

Thanks very much for organising such an enjoyable tour. The sight of all those cranes taking off to migrate over the Pyrenees was just incredible. We had such good views of so many birds that they are too numerous to mention but I particularly enjoyed seeing the wallcreeper and Lammergeier. The hotel accommodation was excellent, as were the meals, throughout the trip. Your expert guidance and thorough knowledge of the birds and their behaviour was really appreciated.

I will keep an eye on your website with interest and hope to travel with you again.

Just a quick note to say how much Keith and I loved coming on your trip to Spain last weekend. What can we say, beautiful weather, gorgeous places to stay, brilliant choices of foods at local bars, lovely people to meet and most of all a great team to go with.  From Keith's point of view plenty of new birds to see and me the areas, flowers and history.  How on earth you located such a beautiful village with medieval buildings and a castle to boot is beyond me .

Once again a trip full of memories.

A short note to thank you both very much for the recent Pyrenees trip. Your organisational skills, knowledge of both the area and of the birds, and the accommodation was
all first class, and the informality of a small group contributed greatly to the experience. Am enjoying reliving the visit with the aid of photos and map and looking forward to another trip with you in the near future.

Canada: Point Pelee & Algonquin
May 2010
Many thanks Dave and Andy for making my trip to Canada such a wonderful birding experience. Being a first time birder to North America it was invaluable to me to have two experienced leaders with young eyes and ears. To have accumulated such a comprehensive trip list was in the main down to both of you. The accommodation and dining experiences were first class and even the unexpected flight around the Arctic Circle, due to the volcanic ash cloud over the Atlantic did not detract from a thoroughly enjoyable 10 days. Highlights of the trip for me were the second day at Point Pelee ( 22 Warblers ) and the evening in Algonquin when the Ruby Throated Hummingbird hovered near a geranium only three feet from where I was sitting. Hope to join you on another trip soon.

Having had several holidays with you in the last 3 years, including three this year, I thought I would just like to say a big Thank You. Dave's pre-holiday organisation skills have been excellent and Andy's driving first class. In the Czech Republic seeing 9 out of the ten European Woodpeckers was outstanding as was the 9 immature White Tailed Eagles near Trebon. Several of the places we visited were UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the buildings were really interesting. The trip to the Spanish Pyrenees produced Lammergeier and Wallcreeper, which were my main target birds, and the most recent trip to Bulgaria had excellent views of both White and Dalmatian Pelicans. I am now really looking forward to 2010 when I am joining you in May for Canada.

Very many thanks for the excellent and very readable tour report. As you so rightly summed up, it was a good trip and as I said at the Parador de Gredos it was without doubt the best such tour we have ever been involved in. So as we say in thr Royal Navy, "Bravo Zulu" (Signalase for "Well Done").

All in all it was a great trip with lots of impressive birds. However, it was not just seeing the birds which was good, but also observing their behaviour. This gives an added dimension. The occasions which immediately come to mind are the impressive mobbing of the great-spotted cuckoo, the montagu's harrier's food pass and the little bustard's displays.

Many thanks to you both

Dear Dave and Andy.  We both wanted to thank you very much for the trip to the Czech Republic - we both enjoyed it very much indeed.  As well as five new birds for Gordon (more than that for me, of course!!) we enjoyed the company and the places.  It felt more relaxed than some birding holidays, and that was not a bad thing!!

Dear Dave,
Many thanks for an excellent birding holiday with Lanius Bird Tours to the lovely Island of Lesbos. really admired the knowledge and ability to find good birds that you and Andy exhibited. It was a really friendly group and an excellent hotel, and of the 140 types of bird that you found for us, 22 were new to me. I shall have no hesitation to recommend LANIUS BIRD TOURS to my friends who look for a small, friendly birding group with superb leaders, who have excellent organisational skills and who go out of their way to make their client's birding holiday as memorable as possible.

Dear Dave & Andy, I would like you to know how much we enjoyed our recent trip to Extremadura. Your abilities to find birds and then show them to people like me with poor eyesight was very much appreciated.

This was my first birding trip abroad, and I was not disappointed, a great trip with some great birds; highlights for me included good views of Eagle Owl and the many Bee-eaters. Can't wait to join Andy and Dave again in the near future.
